If you are working on or have recently completed a manuscript and need help in polishing your work please accept my offer of a free sample edit (first five pages) of your work by e-mailing me at sirjohn@wwisp.com. My prices vary according to the amount of work needed. This is why I would like to see the entire work and have and an explanation as to what you want me to accomplish for you. I will then be able to quote you a price to accomplish what you are after.
Everyone make mistakes when it comes to writing. Some writers struggle with grammar while others find it difficult to control over writing or staying focused on the pace or structure of the story. There are no two authors the same. I know how emotionally attached a writer becomes to their work. It takes two sets of eyes to catch many very common mistakes.
What do you need help with?
PROOFREADING
Thisinvolves the identification and correction of errors in typing, punctuation, misspellings, formatting, grammatical, sentence structure, subject and verb agreement, proper word use, clarity, point of view, etc. A line by line edit will uncover simple mistakes that may stop your work from being considered by a publisher. When proofreading your own work, most writers tend to overlook their own mistakes. The mind automatically fills in what it thinks should be there.
COPYEDITING
This covers the same areas, but I will also check for certain words and styles that are used consistently throughout a novel. It pertains to the entire manuscript covering the organization, story development, pacing, characterization, clarity of detail, etc.You will receive a written analysis detailing any major flaws that needs to be fixed.
SUBSTANTIVE EDITING
This seeks to achieve clarity of subject, logic, and consistency. I will offer advice on confusing and awkward writing and how it may be reworked. Long sentences may be restructured. Repetitions in word choices will be highlighted for removed or rewording.
FORMATTING
I will suggest or implemented style revisions which includes page numbers, margins, headings, spacing, paragraph indentions, etc.
TAKING THE FIRST STEP
I will edit a small sample (the first five pages) of your manuscript for free. I need to see the rest of the work for a quick review. Based on your work I can advice you what would be best and give you a price to accomplish what you want. Or if you have a certain budget available, let me know and I will tell you what I can do for you.
You will receive two files when I finish. One will be in the track change format and you can see the actual changes I made. You have full control of the final product and can accept or reject on a case by case basis. The other file is a clean copy that shows the final recommended product.
I will be as honest as I can in telling you what you need to work on and what is needed to make your manuscript shine. I understand this is your work and my job is not to rework it and put it in my own voice. I am not working as a ghost writer and totally rewriting the story for you. My job is to help you become a better writer.
I also am willing to help you with your query and synopsis. These have to be as close to perfect as you can make them.
Contact me at sirjohn@wwisp.com with any questions or concerns you have. I look forward to hearing from you.
